It is very puzzling and suffocating that our attention is sprawled over a bazillion different areas all in the same time, It came to a point where it’s getting worse and worse everyday. I mean we are always communicating be it in person, phone or the internet, but what bothers me most is that we are losing the personal touch. We are watching television while talking on the phone and while doing all of that maybe writing something or applying nailpolish or whatever or better yet maybe even stuffing our face with food all in the same time.
I want to speak about the importance of how our focus and attention given, projected and received in the right way can immensely effect the quality of our relationships in our daily lives in a positive way, because if I am talking to you in person and checking my phone and reply texts and messages online all at the same time, you can be sure that the quality of our conversation will not be as fruitful as it would have been if my focus was directed to you in the right conversation rather than being all over the place.
Conversation is a two way street, there is a give and take that takes place. Focus and attention in communication is an extreme necessity for the benefits of the conversation taking place. We need to listen more, understand more before we reply and for that we need attention and focus directed in that specific conversation – one at a time, one at a time.
So next time, If you are having a conversation with someone in person or on the phone, concentrate and understand on what is actually being said before you say something or reply without diverting your attention constantly on something else and trust me, you will start changing the quality of relationships that you have around you, with your loved ones - family, friends, colleagues and anyone you come in contact with.
The whole intent of communication is connection, if i don't have your attention - i am sorry there is no connection.
